This book includes a comprehensive presentation of orbit determination and orbit predictions. It may be used as a textbook or as a reflection of the most up to date thinking of the industrial-professional community. The volume fills the gap between engineering handbooks, which tend to become rapidly outdated, and more sophisticated texts, which tend to be too advanced for most senior university students.
The organization of the book is unique, having grown out of the authors seven years of teaching experience. The book includes a glossary of equations, symbols, and terminology as well as illustrative examples complete with numerical solutions. The last two chapters treat applications to lunar and interplanetary orbits and trajectories.
An Introduction to Astrodynamics by Robert M. L. Baker, Jr. and Maud W. Makemson presents preliminary material in the field and is a companion volume to this more advanced treatise.
